ASHFORD UNITED 0-2 CRAY VALLEY (PM)
By Keith Masters
Ashford United were defeated for the first time on their new pitch by a good workmanlike team in Cray Valley (PM).
The game was won (and lost) in three minutes leading up to half time when goals by Michael Ademiluyi and Kyrell Lisbie – both excellent goals – sealed the match.
Prior to the goals the game had been quite an even affair with both teams having chances but the class of the visitors finally prevailed.
Ashford brought on substitutes Noah Carney and Bradley Simms at the start of the second half and a difference was noticed almost immediately.
Ashford took the game to the visitors but the Cray Valley defence, brilliantly marshalled by Arthur Lee, remained unbeaten.
Ashford, for their part, in the second half also defended resolutely and was able to contain the visitors.
United can take encouragement from their performance against one of the best teams in the league at the moment.
