ASHFORD UNITED 0-1 EAST GRINSTEAD
Match Report By Keith Masters
Ashford United’s poor run of form continued at The Homelands with a defeat by East Grinstead by one goal to nil.
The Nuts and Bolts have now lost their last four games.
The first half was quite an even affair. Ashford had chances when Anthony Edgar and Robbie Rees both went close but the best chance of the half fell to East Grinstead on the 36th minute which produced two fine saves by Ashford keeper Chris, before the visitors Camron Lawson blazed the ball over the bar from close range.
HT - United 0-0 East Grinstead
East Grinstead took the lead three minutes after the restart.
A fierce shot from Matthew Daniel eluded Lewington and entered the net just inside the right goalpost.
For much of the remainder of the half, Ashford pressurised the East Grinstead goal.
Anthony Edgar, Danny Parish and Ian Draycott, each had good efforts saved by the visitor’s keeper Matte Pierson who appeared to be in inspired form.
The hosts thought they had the equaliser late in stoppage time. A great long range attempt by Kymani Thomas beat Pierson only to see the ball hit the post and return into play.
It was one of those days!!
