Ashford United is pleased to confirm the signing of Henry Muggeridge from Lewes FC this afternoon.

The 29-year old midfielder spent four seasons at Whitehawk before making the step up to the Premier Division in May this year. However, Lewes’ loss is Ashford’s gain.

Before that, Muggeridge had spells with Bristol City Academy, Tonbridge Angels and Crowborough Athletic.

Recently, Muggeridge was also appointed joint-manager of England’s 6-aside team alongside Arjan Jung, whilst he is also the joint-manager of EMC Football Academy.

Speaking on his arrival, Tommy Warrilow has sung the midfielders praises and is excited to work with him once again after doing so back in 2012 at Tonbridge.

“I am really delighted to get Henry over the line. He is one of the boys I targeted in the summer but we lost out because he wanted to try out higher.” Warrilow said.

“For one reason or another it hasn’t worked out for him at Lewes, and that’s lucky for us because I jumped on this opportunity straight away.

“Obviously I’ve known H since he was a 19-year old kid when we took him from Bristol City. He has always been a tenacious player but he’s matured and grown into a top utility player.

“He’s another one who didn’t have a lack of interest when it was announced that he’d leave Lewes, so I am very pleased to now have him on board.

“I believe it’s an area we needed to strengthen and I’m not one to sign players for the sake of it. I’m always looking to bring quality in.” He finished.

Henry Muggeridge will be available for selection this afternoon against Three Bridges in the FA Trophy.
