The family welcome friends and supporters who watched John play for Ashford Town.

We were recently saddened to hear about the passing of ex Ashford Town player John Hamblin (nicknamed Chopper).

Chopper played for Town between 1959-1970 making 168 league appearances (according to our records) and scoring 6 goals. He was a well known and much loved character.

Sadly he passed away last Saturday, 81 years old from dementia related illness.

His family would love for any of his old team mates, friends and supporters to come along to the funeral, details below.

Information for the funeral of John Hamblin:

John will leave Nettlefields, Kennington by a black horse and carriage procession at 11am.
The Service will be at Charing Crematorium on Tuesday 29th October at 12pm.

Afterwards myself and his wife Valerie would like to invite you to the Kennington Carvery to celebrate Johns life at 1:30pm.

John did not like the colour black, so we are asking those attending to wear bright colours and or football tops, any colours, as football was a huge part of his life.

Flowers or a gift to Alzheimer's Research UK would be welcomed.

We would love to see as many as possible there for John, whether you knew him personally through friendship or work or if you watched him play.

Many thanks
Kirsty Hamblin-Harris (daughter)
