Ashford United kick-start their 2022/23 Isthmian League campaign with an away trip to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday afternoon, 3:00pm kick-off.
It marks a reverse of last year’s opening day fixture when the Hillians visited the Homelands. On that occasion, it was the Nuts & Bolts who came out on top, winning 3-1.
We head into the weekend’s contest off the back of a tricky Pre-Season, winning just once [against Eastbourne United AFC] in eight outings.
Our most recent performance against Folkestone Invicta saw us lose 4-2 on the day, but supporters would’ve been filled with optimism with the positive performance.
In contrast, the hosts Burgess Hill have had a brilliant Pre-Season, winning six from their seven games, which includes wins against the likes of Chipstead and Leatherhead. Their only defeat came against Lewes back in July.
Jay Lovett’s side will have high expectations after a strong end to last campaign.
