TEAM NEWS:
Tommy Warrilow made four changes to the side that faced Chatham Town on Tuesday evening.
New boy Tyler McCarthy made his first appearance for the Nuts & Bolts, replacing the injured Jordan Carey.
Dan Hull served his one-match suspension for the red card he picked up against Chatham Town, which meant Steventon filled in at the heart of the defence. Meanwhile Luke Burdon and Luke Leppard came in to replace Jay May and Bailo Camara up top.
(STARTING XI: McCarthy, Ossai, Gorham [OFF 69’], Steventon, Simms, Wisson, Ovenden, Diallo, Fagg, Burdon [OFF 69’], Leppard [OFF 79’])
(SUBS: Richardson, Patton [ON 69’], Camara [ON 69’], Gold, Ter Horst [ON 79])
MATCH REPORT:
Tommie Fagg had the only chance of note in the opening 45 minutes after he was picked out inside the box by Ossai, jumping highest to head low into the bottom left corner. His effort was matched by Corinthian keeper’ Aiden Prall.
The hosts did keep Ashford busy at defending corners and set-pieces, though, but that threat was negotiated pretty well.
Into the second-half we went, and the game became a little bit more open. Despite that, there was still a lack of cutting edge in the final third from both sides.
Fagg agonisingly smashed a shot onto the cross bar at the hour mark, and then Wisson flicked a header just wide of the post soon after.
Corinthian’s No.11, Louie Clarke, could’ve done better in front of goal moments later, dragging an effort wide of the post in the middle of the 18-yard box and failing to punish the Nuts & Bolts.
In the end, the draw was certainly a fair result. If either side had nicked it, the other would have felt much aggrieved.
