TEAM NEWS:
[STARTING XI: McCarthy, Simms, Steventon, Hull, Diallo, Ovenden, Wisson, Kwayie, Ter Horst, Ratti, Lockyer]
[SUBS: Hook, Ossai, Burdon]
MATCH REPORT:
Gary Lockyer put Ashford ahead early on when he powered a header in at the back post following Mamadou Diallo’s pin-point cross on the left.
Rhyle Ovenden was then stretchered off the pitch with a suspected knee injury and that seemed to be a turning point for James Collins’ men who managed to get a foothold on the game.
A frantic second-half saw two former Nuts & Bolts players cause up a stir. First, Clark Woodcock equalised for Faversham but that was cancelled out when Tashi-Jay Kwayie knocked in from close-range to fire Warrilow’s men back into the lead moments later.
Then, a late Jono Richardson strike found the back of the net to salvage a point for The Lilywhites away from home.
Faversham struck the bar in the closing stages but Josh Wisson could’ve won Ashford the match with the last kick of the game, whiskering an effort past the keeper and unfortunately the post.
In what is a depleted Nuts & Bolts side, suffering with the effects of Covid and injuries, our fixture away to Ramsgate in two days’ time looks a tall order.
