LADIES GK LUCY GREEN RETIRES

Safe hands Lucy’ Ashford’s longest serving goal keeper retired on Sunday, after 15 years wearing the badge.
Lucy will be missed by all of her teammates and Ashford United supporters.

After years of making incredible saves and putting her body on the line she brought a calm and composed attitude to the game.

Stevie Walton, goalkeeping coach says “15 years! Our number one goal stopper, Lucy is hanging up her gloves!
She’s been a dedicated team player always putting her body on the line for her
team and teammates first, for the success of the team. She will be missed by us all!”

Some of her longest serving team mates, Karis Howard, Yasmin Howard & Charlotte Marsh said
that; “Ashford won’t be the same without her, to have Lucy between the sticks we always had
faith!
She’s not called ‘Safe hands Lucy’ for no reason!”

Manager Steve Howard said; "I’ve had the pleasure of managing Lucy for fifteen years.
Lucy is a great character and a massive asset to our team and her void will be hard to fill. Loved by all her teammates and management alike, for her dedication and ability. Her professionalism shines
through with her willingness to still learn and change her style of play to suit what the team
needs.
Lucy played an integral part in our promotion to the premier division of the London and South East Counties League and of course, our unbelievable treble winning season.
She was a big part of last year's success even after having a baby".

Everyone at Ashford United Football Club would like to wish Lucy a fantastic retirement.
Thank you for your service and we look forward to hopefully seeing you back at Homelands next season, as a supporter.
